Recap: The Traitors US (Season 2, Episode 7)
This wasn't my favorite episode, so forgive me if this recap makes me sound like an *Phaedra voice* ice princess.

Last week, the Faithfuls managed to finally get out a Traitor. Lucky for us, it was Dan. Dan narrated the game like he was in a 2004 MTV dating show and he walked like a Sim. But now that he’s gone, the only remaining Traitors left to target are the two best characters in the show: Parvati and Phaedra. Their days are numbered, and the Peter Pals are onto them, but it seems like The Traitors is going to keep them on our televisions as long as possible. Yay, but also nay, because this episode felt a little slow to me.
We begin with the news that Four-Times-in-a-Windmill has declined Parvati and Phaedra’s invitation to become a Traitor. Gone are the days when The Bachelor knew how to make good television, so I’m not surprised by this choice. Peter thinks he’s Captain America by sticking to the Faithfuls, and his “Peter Pals” treat him as such. They are gunning for Parvati.
At breakfast, Peter stays mum about the invitation and reveals his secret only to his little clique in a secret meeting. Pheadra’s attempt to join the meeting is denied, which is a big mistake. This kicks off a meeting with everyone else in the house, and it’s decided: Pete’s got to go. This feels more out of spite than thinking he’s actually a Traitor, which is entertaining. I also like watching Sandra and Parvati team up. Gone are the days of “Anybody But Me” Sandra. With new teeth comes a new philosophy on voting. Godspeed.
The Mission
In this mission, players pair up and attempt to answer a series of questions so they can bring bags of money to the finish line. The most entertaining part of this segment was the consequences of each wrong answer. Players were trapped in a mud pit or scooped up in a huge “hammock” of leaves. Bring this mission back next season. Humiliating the players with a comical trap is more fun to watch than traumatizing the players with coffins and fake funerals.
At the end of the challenge, Kevin and Sandra manage to win the shields. That’s it, right? Just the two of them are saved, right? Not so much…
The Roundtable That Wasn’t
I was prepared for an epic head-to-head battle between Parvati and Peter…but no such luck. In the evening, Alan calls everyone together for a surprise: no roundtable, no banishment. Instead, the players are taken into the woods and put into a round circle. Starting with Kevin and Sandra, players are asked to save one player from murder that night.
Kevin and Sandra decide to protect Sheree, which makes her happy.
Sheree decides to protect Phaedra, which makes her cry.
Phaedra decides to protect Tight-Pants-CT, which pisses Parvati off.
CT decides to protect John, which pisses Trishelle off.
John decides to protect Peter, which pisses me off.
With Peter saved and the drama between him and Parvati guaranteed to last another episode, the roundtable round torch-lighting circle is over. Thus begins a bit of drama between Home-Ec Fashion Karen and Tight-Pants CT, which does not interest me in the least. Will this make a difference in the overall game? I assume not? But we’ll just have to wait until next week to see.
The episode ends with Parvati and Phaedra deciding who to murder, and Phaedra reading Parv for being an ice princess. She called out the squinting and smirking before any viewers could! I will admit that Parvati is no longer the vixen that worked to her advantage so many times on Survivor, so maybe Phaedra’s warnings will be a wake-up call. I really hope we get to see Parvati on our screens for more than one more episode, but unless she melts a little, it’s looking like she’s going to be left out in the cold.
